VAT Registration Threshold increased in April 2017

June 1, 2017

In the Budget it was announced that if a business turns over in excess of £85,000 in the proceeding 12months the business must register for VAT. The 12 month period does not relate to an accounting year and is effectively a rolling test.

At the same time the de-registration threshold increased to £83,000, meaning that a business cannot deregister for VAT unless the business can demonstrate that the turnover in the next 12months will not exceed £83,000
