Tax Payment by Credit Card

December 1, 2017

Due to changes in the regulations about making charges for accepting payment by credit or debit card on 13 January 2018 you will NOT be able to pay your tax bill by credit card after this date.

HMRC is currently one of many organisations who charge you a premium for paying by credit card. From 13 January 2018 you can no longer pay a higher price or pay a fee for paying by card – this cost must be absorbed by the business you are paying. With this in mind HMRC have taken the decision not to accept credit cards after this date. Some Company cards will still be accepted but we would recommend that if you are looking to pay by credit card then you pay by 13 January…that’s only 43 days to go!
